Setup for Windows 98 and Windows ME to dial in to Waycom.
Windows-XP Users Click Here.

Begin at your start bar by pressing start, then choose programs, then choose accessories, then choose dialup networking. For Windows-98 users to find dialup networking you will need to go to Start, Programs, Accessories, Communications, Dialup Networking. If you do not find dialup networking here, please call tech support as there are further installations that must be done that are beyond the scope of this help text. If dialup networking has never been run a wizard will start and you may answer the questions using the information at the top of this page.

If the wizard does not run a window will open. In this window you will find an icon named "Make New Connection". Follow the instructions on your screen using the information at the top of this page. The first window of make new connection will ask for a name for this connection. You may name this anything that you would like ( we suggest naming it "Waycom" ) and the name will appear as the icon name for the new connection that you are creating. When you are finished you will find a new icon in the dialup networking window that is named "Waycom" or whatever you have chosen to name it.

Once you have made the new icon you will need to complete the setup by setting the properties of the connection to work with Wayland Communications PPP server. To make the needed changes to the connection right click on the icon that you have just created. A menu will drop down and you will need to choose Properties.

Most of the defaults on the properties will work just fine but, there are only a few things that need to be changed. First you will need to choose Networking.

In this window the only box that needs to be checked is the one labeled TCP/IP. We suggest that you not choose any other as it will only slow the process of logging in. Click on TCP/IP settings. Particularly, do NOT choose "logon to network" as this is not intended for an internet connection.

Now press all the "ok" buttons until you are left with only the dialup networking window open, with the new icon that you have just created in it.

Double click on the the new icon, this will bring up the phone dialer window. Enter your username and password in the appropriate box. Remember that the username and password are case sensitive! Now click Connect. You should hear or see an indication that the modem is dialing.

After the modem connects you should see the dialog box will say "verifying username and password". After the final negotiations are made between your computer and the server, the window should indicate that you are "connected". If this window does not minimize itself, you may minimize it yourself.

This completes your connection to the internet. You will now need to use a program to make use of the the internet. The primary program that will be used in most cases, is called a Browser. Wayland Communications Supports ONLY Internet Explorer which can be found on most computers that are running Windows-95. You may use any browser or any other internet program that you wish, however, we will only provide technical help for the Microsoft Internet Explorer web browser and Outlook Express email programs.

When you have finished using your connection, you will find a small icon on the taskbar for your dialup network connection. You should click on this Icon. The connection status box will pop back up on your screen. Choose Disconnect at this time to close your internet connection.
